Emerging Foodborne Pathogens (Repost)

A good starting point for any discussion on emerging foodborne pathogens is to describe what this term is taken to mean. For our purposes we have adopted a definition which draws on several earlier published versions (Morse, 1995; 2004) and classifies emerging pathogens as: those causing illnesses that have only recently appeared or been recognised in a population, or that are well recognised but are rapidly increasing in incidence
or geographic range.
