Fundamental aspects and molecular results are presented for eight orphan crops of high agroeconomic importance, including mungbean, lentil, chickpea, lathyrus, pigeonpea, sweet potato, cassava and yam. Additionally, works on quinoa and Bambara groundnut are reviewed for the first time.
