Late Babylonian Texts in the Ashmolean Museum

The 406 texts presented in this book constitute the bulk of the letters and economic texts in the collec­tions of the Ashmolean Museum dating to what is commonly called the Late Babylonian Period. In political terms this is the period of the Chaldean and Achaemenid dynasties in Babylonia. Of these 406 texts some 22 (see the index of dated texts) antedate the reign of Nabo­polassar. For the sake of convenience, however, they are included here with the Late Babylonian texts sensu stricto.
