I'd be very careful using the techniques in this book - they assume averyone acts the same under the same conditions - they don't.

It may catch out a few friends (so what, soemtimes lying is easier on people's feelings) but it wont catch out people who have no emotional attachment to you - because they don't care about your feelings - so they are not 'lying' in their head - 75% of people I did jail time with are like that.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I agree Brother No 1, guys who have been inside are often psychopaths; they don't care too much about other people's feelings (which often explains why they got there), so don't show up as liars on these tests, hence they find it easy to be "pathological liars".

David Liberman is not a practical psychologist.
U may find some techniques described in this book usefull.
But if you want to aquire a better understanding & a better skill of how to detect a lie i advice you to look for Paul Eckman's stuff.
Pauls' techniques are aproved by CIA, FBI & pentagon, though for an average person those techniques may seem quite complicated.
But life & lies are not so simple.
