Good job, nigrrrrr. Sory if got ur "r"s wrong.
Posted By: nigrrrrrrr Date: 12 Aug 2009 23:04:10
Thx 4 compliment Smirk. "r"'s no prob. Hope is useful bcuz it's much easier than hacking their stupid JS reader to get bigger pics.

Response: thx tired and Alexpal 4 the quickie alternative. workz good too to get 500x500 cover. if ur book has no cover with this route u might want to crop the white noise off the pic to fit on ur pdf.

Actually, the first place I look for a cover is Barnes and Noble, then Langtoninfo. Those 2 tend to have the best quality ones. If I find none then comes Amazon and maybe PaperbackSwap.

Instead of all the contortions just use

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/XXXX

where you replace XXXX with the ASIN (normally the ISBN-10 but always the stuff after the /dp/ in a typical amazon url).

In this case, the book's amazon webpage is http://www.amazon.com/Relax-into-Stretch-Flexibility-Mastering/dp/0938045288/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250145695&sr=8-1 (and if you look at the page you'll see it lists the ISBN-10 as 0938045288) so just look up:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/0938045288

In any case these images are NOT the same thing (somewhat smaller) than what you can get via the Look Inside pages. In this example, the Look Inside jpeg is 600 x 812 (but with the annoying "Copyrighted Material" text), and the other version is only 500 x 500.

BTW if you have the ISBN-10 (or less likely the Amazon ASIN), you can just use:

http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/ISBN10 to get to the book's page.

In this case http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0938045288 brings you to the same product page as before.

Off Topic but those Adds are annoying on Avax when they redirect the Users browser to another website and not giving them the option to return to his/her page that they were currently reading. Whenever that happens I have to reopen Avax again on Fire Fox but having to restart all over since I end up losing the page that I was previosly browsing. Don't know if others have the same problem but I sure do.

!!! RTFM !!!

From FAQ:

---------

for obtaining quality covers of books use next link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/XXX/ref=dp_image_0,
where XXX is ISBN-10 (without "-") of your book.

That's right tired. It might be just simpler to get the big jpg from the "Temporary internet files" folder once you opened it in the reader. Anyway, does anyone know if it's possible to get around the page viewing limit on Amazon? It usually lets you view 10 or so pages with the "search inside" option. I can usually get 90% of the pages on B&N, and that leaves me with 20-30 missing pages on average. Then I get 10 on Amazon, but I dont have another account so I can search again, and clearing the cache and changing the IP doesn't help. So they must be storing the information on their servers. You can't even browse through the book on Amazon.ca after you've seen it on Amazon.com.

Also, if anyone want's to "trade pages" let me know. I'll get the ones you need and you'll get the one's I'm missing.

Thanks a lot, nigrrrrrrr!!!

Alexpal, велосипед или нет, но все же хорошо когда конкретно указано, а то факью порой трудно воспринимается в полном объеме ;)

2 robin-bobin:
