Complementing the literature published so far on the techniques, Cauci (nuclear technology and reactor safety, U. of Karlsruhe, Germany) begins by reviewing the mathematical concepts of matrix and operator theory, probability and statistics, and the theory and practice of measurements and errors as they are used to analyze the sensitivity and uncertain of data and models. Then he explains how to compute sensitivities and uncertainties using results produced by various algebraic, differential, integral, and other models. He has deferred methods for adjusting and assimilating data, and various applications to large-scale problems to later volumes. There is no index or bibliography.
