This practical, comprehensive text serves as a step-by-step, "hands on" workbook for those learning to interpret 12-Lead EKGs. With over 45 years of experience in cardiac care, authors Green and Chiaramida present the content and technical understanding students need to accurately analyze, interpret, and "comprehend" the variety of rhythm strips that make up12-lead EKGs.
This book introduces basic principles of anatomy and physiology, including a review of the heart's electrical system. The chapters discuss vital elements of cardiology, such as atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities and heart block, ischemic and nonischemic disorders, and more. Explanations of terms and concepts are concise and to the point, allowing students to focus on the most important information.
Key Features:
Self-Study Objectives listed at the start of each chapter
Enlarged segments of the 12-Lead EKG rhythm strips to ensure that the student views the appropriate lead, and sees the entire 12-lead strip
Worksheets at the end of each chapter, allowing students to practice measurement, evaluate and interpret rhythms, and develop diagnostic reasoning skills
A self assessment section for students at the end of the book
With this book, medical and nursing students will gain the confidence they need to accurately interpret 12-lead EKGs.

as a 4th year medical student, i used this book for the first time. saying it is easy to read, understand, and use is an understatement. the pictures complement the book perfectly and there is enough practice in the book to have you doing endless ekg's. the size of the book may be daunting, but he really simplifies out the topics well and it is so easy to understand. the practice at the end of each chapter not only review the content of the previous chapters but also incorporates material from previous chapters. i could not have asked for a better book to learn and master ekgs from during my 4th year!
Summary: Excellent book that produces results

Summary: Finally, a great EKG guide
Rating: 5
I used 12-Lead EKG confidence for my EKG class in my 4th year of medical school. I was so satisfied and impressed by the step by step interpretation of how to read an EKG. After using this book I finally understood so much more about EKG then was ever taught to me in my first 2 years of medical school. Every med school should really recommend this book to its students to use. It finally makes sense in an easy and understandable way. You will feel more confident and ready to interpret EKG's as an intern after using this book. Not only does it have easy-to-understand interpretations, but at the end of each chapter there are practice EKGs to reinforce what you have just read. Love this book. I highly recommend it to any and all medical students and healthcare professionals that want a better understanding of EKGs.
Summary: An EKG Learning must have
Rating: 5
This book definitely lives up to its title. I have read different EKG books in the past and have felt I have simply memorized EKG rules but this book definitely allowed me to fully understand the breadth of information presented in a simple EKG. This especially holds true for the chapter on Axis. It is an easy read with lots of diagrams allowing one to visualize the heart and the corresponding EKG topic simultaneously. I think this works very well since it encourages one to think about the pathophysiology as it is presented in the one-dimensional form on the EKG. In addition to the diagrams, there are ample practice EKGs which allow one to build knowledge from the previous chapters. The language is written very simply so that it drives the points home without getting bogged down in the terminology. A definite must have before internship.
Summary: Great EKG Book!
Rating: 5
This book gives the best explanation of how to read and interpret EKGs by far. It takes you through the process step by step and when you finish you feel absolutely confident in your ability to read any EKG. There are worksheets to go through after each chapter with explanations in the back. Each chapter is short and very manageable so you don't get overwhelmed and there are comprehensive review sections to make sure you can incorporate the information as you go along. Not only does this book take you through the important steps of reading EKGs, it also gives great clinical correlations so that you are learning how to diagnose and treat cardiac conditions. Regardless of what specialty you are going into this book is essential in becoming a well-rounded physician. I would highly recommend this book and you will no longer be confused by EKGs!
