You can open them individually with photoshop... but I also would like to know how to open this format in a diaporama way... so that I don't have to just open one by one; thanks!

@drloveone: If you use Photoshop CS2, you have Bridge (put simply kind of an ACDSee Adobe program) which could generate thumbnails of the .ai files for you. Don't know if the file browser on older versions of Photoshop could perform the same task
@webfrof2004: Oh yes, they DO open in Photoshop ;)

Right, they're "only" 1100.
