Harvest – SMAS-11163 (1973) Original US Pressing | Prog Rock

"The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in March 1973. It built on ideas explored in the band's earlier recordings and live shows, but lacks the extended instrumental excursions that characterized their work following the departure in 1968 of founding member, principal composer and lyricist, Syd Barrett. The Dark Side of the Moon's themes include conflict, greed, the passage of time and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state." Wikipedia

An interesting and constructive proposal for all users of Avax:

I would like to make a proposal to the users of this forum, especially the large vinyl rippers. Let's try to gather the different original versions, i. e., first editions or pressed DSOTM. If possible in high resolution (24/96) and with the full scans of the vinyl artwork. Of course, each one within its own philosophy and modus operandi in the art of digitizing vinyl records. Let's try to gather the largest number among all possible and build a fantastic collection of original DSOTM.

In my opinion there is sitting Vinyl ripping potential in you.
With some practice and the technical possibilities, you could develop in the excellent vinyl ripper. :)
To my ears this sound good, but this time you didn't pay really attention to the scans.
Possible the music had a priority.

p.s.
Are you sure this is not passed through the equipment of your friend? :))

In light of the recent Box set that was released, which I've been listening to, this is definitely a welcome addition. It sounds great to me, though I'm pretty forgiving of vinyl "noise" whereas others are not. With that said, I respect yours and Globalbee3's philosophy regarding use of processing, just think some will point it out on a record like this that has a lot of quiet spots where vinyl noise is more apparent.

Anyway it doesn't deter me... :-)

Thanks for the contribution, I appreciate it....

My vinyl: RD: 12

There is much difference, maybe some kind of compression?
Posted By: yerbas07 Date: 08 Oct 2011 15:43:12
True, there are passages in which the noise is most noticeable in the grooves. I only removed the essential clicks the most annoying. The work can take my ClickRepair processing it to your taste and measure. Is another possibility, is not it?

Now, I have hope that some of the biggest rippers presents us with another first edition of this vinyl.

Sounds to me like a cult. I have ears, and that's what I use for judging audio. I looked everywhere for this stupid dr component, installed from "pleasurizemusic",where they sell Nike from Australia or whatever goes on with half their website, and install in Foobar, and it says it is set to expire on 1 September 2011. Yeah, this must be something that every audiophile uses, heh. I don't care much for novelty. To each their own.

Maybe there will be a"Dynamic Range War"soon.
Posted By: Electrotung Date: 09 Oct 2011 05:33:23
I lied. I mean to say,you guys are great for what you are doing, making the breakthroughs in each their art styles, and with ripping vinyls to the entire dance to the finished (or Raw) wavs. (o-R .wvs in case of Gb3).

Doing it for the lulz. As if to say. Why worry? I have to say, that from what I pick up from the years of following the vinyl scene, you have to be a little bit crazy, crazy in this world, novelty (acc. with dedicated compassion discipline, and most of all, generosity and foresight.) Fun,Fun! Who's askin',right? I can dig it. I meant no offense re novelty. What is life without wonder? Vinyl without a needle/cart? "Don't know it,what ya have,it,until ya.." "This soon shall pass." "I'm not a-marching anymore!" - Phil Oches. Be well fellow vinyl "trek-ies?" ;) Be well. (And muito abrigado por the risks and rewards,a type of social-audio counterculture trans-wave propagation, listening session et al,one,oh my,oh my. Gracias,
#occupythegroove.

Oh folks, stop comparing rips! Just grab the one u like and enjoy it!

All the vinyl ripper dudes here (yeah, all of'em - long list to write here), spend so much time to spread the quality along the web. Of course there will be some differences betwen rips and gears but just pick one (or all of them if u have enough storage). This is already amazing to have vinyl sound quality in our digital gadgets, so why still discussing?
