This is my transfer, glad it's getting around. Because of the very weird stereo separation, I decided to narrow the stereo image. The right channel had his vocal mic only, while the left had his guitar, foot tappings, bass, and some reverb. It was weird to listen to like that.

I think, whatever the sound on the original vinyl is like, you should keep it that way.
But that's just my opinion, I'll enjoy it anyway.

Until now I've never changed anything on a transfer - I don't "futz" with them, EQ, compress, etc. But in this case, the record was unlistenable. What good is a recording you can't stand to listen to?

My opinion is you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. The CD of this is still in print, so you can go buy it if you want to hear the original stereo imaging. Or you can easily find a copy of the record (though probably not mint like this one).
This is actually one of the best sounding things I've done, one of the best Hooker albums I've heard.

LOL, hehe, got a big chuckle out of that. I clicked on your username to find your vinyl rips, and I did not see any. You're really good at making snide remarks about other peoples work, but why don't you show us all exactly how a proper vinyl rip is done? Your contribution to this site, other than negative remarks, is two EAC CD rips. I've got lots of vinyl rips under my belt. BTW, I don't get it... what makes you think anyone cares whether or not you decide to download something? But thanks for letting us know...

Anywhoo, this vinyl is very well preserved, (regardless of how I choose to share it) in it's original mondo-bizarro-unlistenable stereo form, right here:

Go buy yourself one of these historical documents!

Thanx SF, my ears appreciate your stereo image treatment

My ears appreciate it too, that's why I decided to share it... very good recording, just a weird left/right separation (listen to clips at amazon.com for an example)

Showing off with your rips and equipment is quite childish, especially if you use them to argue against people who prefer to spend their money on other fine things than turntables and cartridges. And why do you pay attention to the reaction of 'Dreasy' while he has never posted anything here on avax at all? We're not saying that we don't like the result of your downmix. As a matter of fact I love its noisy and warm sound but what if people would like to hear this high resolution rip in it's original stereo image? If you had shared the unedited mix, I could still have made a downmix myself but separating the channels is impossible.

Anyway, it's not worth this silly discussion. Thanks for this great recording! I'm looking forward to your upcoming rips.
