Oh, the 80's, how I miss 'em!!!
Here is one of the masterpieces of Pop from the 1980's, orchestrated by none other than Mr. Leo himself, Roland Orzabal, and a crew of top rate musicians, among them the incredible Oletta Adams.
Reportedly costing about 1 million GBP to make at the time, it is one of the few albums that actually sounds like a million bucks!!!!
Also featuring the dubious honor of having up to five 24 track machines synched together to get 100+ separate tracks (let's not even talk about the patch bay!!!), the production here is beyond stellar.
Mixed by David Bascombe in "SuperBascombevision" (or something like that) , there are also mixes by Bob Clearmountain("Woman In chains") that define "State of the Art Recording".
When I got his LP , it was in NM visually, but it was the clickiest thing ever. Fortunately, ClickRepair came to the rescue.
THe "sheen" that permeates this LP is nowhere to be found on any CD version, so , if you TRULY want to listen to this album for the FIRST TIME EVER, as it was supposed to have sounded originally, download and listen to this sonic marvel!
Tracklist:
Side A
A1 Woman In Chains 6:30
A2 Bad Man's Song 8:32
A3 Sowing The Seeds Of Love 6:16
A4 Advice For The Young At Heart 4:52
Side B
B1 Standing On The Corner Of The Third World 5:30
B2 Swords And Knives 6:14
B3 Year Of The Knife 7:06
B4 Famous Last Words 4:23
Notes about the label photo...I received the LP with the label on side B in this condition. The Poster photo is a bonus from the "Woman in Chains" 12" release from 1992.
As usual, the Linear Tracking Turntable reduces the Inner groove Distortion; especially on long LP sides like these.
As opposed to the DVD-A Quad mixes, LP rips are directly from the slab o' vinyl, so , no cue-just like you're playing the LP; look for the song!!!!
Also, for those who may be "Surround inclined", this decodes VERY WELL in "Faux Surround" if you set your receiver to Dolby Pro Logic II Music; Settings: Dimension=+1 , Panorama=On.
Tech talk:
TT: Technics SL-QL1 Linear Tracking
Stylus: Ortofon OMP20
Preamp: Pioneer AV-2SX receiver
Card; MOTU 828 mk II FIREWIRE
Recording Program : Logic Pro
Decode and Post: : Declicked with ClickRepair at real time at settings from 10 (normal) to 60 (Between Songs) and later declicked manually just to make sure...
No EQ or signal processing was used.
if you want to p2p it, please credit me, but
NO MIRRORS

@ reactingreactor:
yes, I actually GUFFAWED when I dared to the CD to LP comparison, I can't believe the fidelity on this sucker.
Shame that the quality of the vinyl used was so bad cause it's a DMM Mastering, and a beautiful one at that!!!
Encrypted file: CRC failed in 2010_6_18_FFT_LOS_PL_HR/TFF Seeds A-cr.flac (password incorrect ?)

Nice sound Thanks!
Thanks for the members who reported the bad links.
Thanks to 0pp0 for posting a cue since I don't do them for vinyl rips(grumpy old man that I am :=) ), only for DVDAs-which take a LOT of work...LP rips are another story, it's like playing the LP; as I said, just look for the song.
The sound on this LP is unbelievable and that's why I wanted to share it. There are other LPs I will post eventually that made me "reconvert" back to vinyl (although I never got rid of them)...
@durant35 ;the 2 FLACS are side A and B, just like the LP! :=)
- Let's create new file,
- copy text below and save with name for example "Tears for Fears - The Seeds of Love.cue"
- copy file to the same directory as flac files "TFF Seeds A-cr.flac" and "TFF Seeds B-cr.flac"

Thanks for recording and upping this classic album! I always thought the CD sounded pretty good, but I really can't wait to hear this.

You can import cue side 1 and then cue side 2 and listen whole album.
Works properly at foobar too.
(At Foobar player is possible cuesheet import to flac file.)
I do these for myself-and I have very high standards!
Maybe I'll post an "unclicked" needledrop so you guys can see how horrible it was originally.
Thankfully , it was most clicks, very little surface noise...
All of the transfers to DVDA have taught me a LOT about declicking manually...
Cheers...
Much appreciated
I WAS WRONG!!!!
THIS IS A DIGITAL RECORDING AND MIXDOWN!!!!!
..put THAT in your pipe and smoke it...
I vote that they DOUSED the LP mix in Harmonic Exciter!!!!
Still...I could have SWORN it was an analog rec/mix....
Cheers!!!
To everyone else: I was able to d/l and unpack this with no problems by doing the following:
(1) I d/l'd empanadilla's links for all the parts except 3 and 6.
(2) I d/l'd from the new part 3 and part 6 links in the comments section.
(3) I used ppl1's two cue sheets (in the comments section) - thanks ppl1!
Worked great, and sounds great!
If you need to split the tracks, you can do that in foobar too.
Just use foobar's converter to convert to wave & check "convert each
track to an individual file" and then choose your preferred name format such as
%track%. %title% or w/e.
Foobar can then convert the wavs back to flac or use flac frontend or any other method
you are already familiar with for creating flac files. Tagging can be done with foobar
or a tagging program like mp3tag.
Thanks for the nice rip.
you are VERY WELCOME . guys!!!
My pleasure...LOVE THIS LP!!!
The LP is certainly VERY different sounding from any of the CDs....
This brings me so many good memories...
