German original LP (Vertigo "Spaceship) / Cat.#: Vertigo 6673 001 (6333 500 on label)

An amazingly bombastic concept album about the Apocalypse of St. John seen as a rock spectacle. Demis Roussos wails the lyrics in a frantically operatic falsetto, while the band pound fiercely through Vangelis' furiously complex music.
- Steven McDonald/AMG (4.5/5 Stars)

666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18) is a double album by psychedelic/progressive art rock group Aphrodite's Child. It is one of the early cult albums in rock history, and is still popular among fans today. It was released in 1972, and was the primary vehicle/effort for the Vangelis project. It had a minor Album Oriented Radio hit in "The Four Horsemen," and a nearly pop hit with "Break." The album was ostensibly an adaptation of Biblical passages from the book of the same name, but was also very experimental in lyrics and composition, including a curious piece of performance art in which Greek actress Irene Papas performs a struggle to chant a mantra while in the throes of hysteria and sexual climax.

Ripping Note

I would grade tis used record optical mint, but it has strangewise some noises in the quiet parts (Track 10 - Lament)... However, after a long, long washing it gets much better and I could remove the remaining clicks manually.

Thanks for posting this. I'm eager to compare with the other rip that was posted here a while back.

EDIT: Jesus, what a difference! This is definitely the superior rip, by far. Luckburz's rip has a little too much emphasis on the lows. Yours seems much more balanced. VERY nice!

Can't compare with the CD version, as I ditched it after grabbing Luckburz's rip. It's very safe to say that if your rip beats his, it's a VERY safe bet that it spanks the CD, which was ridiculously harsh, despite not even being very loud.

Again, thanks a lot for this one! Very nice job here.

EDIT 2: Again, I really have to compliment you on this one, Aksman. I've always had trouble listening to this album in it's entirety due to listening fatigue. No problems with this rip. Thank you very much.
