Those of you who like the "warm" sound of vinyl are going to love this!

This is the furthest away from a CD I've ever ripped. I've been very impressed with the quality of original "Yellow Label" EPIC LPs. So I trust that this 1B pressing is what was originaly intended for the American market. The CD has high frequencies you'll never hear on my rip. But I bet you turn my wax up and the CD down?

Hi Tubert

I had this album, a UK pressing and it was still pretty 'muddy'. However, I found the CD pressings the opposite, all sharp leading edges, and very little bottom end.

One day someone will get it right, but I doubt it as Argent aren't likely to be high on anyone's remaster list.

Wonder if anyone's got a Japanese or French pressing? They tend to be better than US or UK ones?

Thanks for the effort gone into ripping this one!

Hi tubert (i love tubes too, look at my blog)
Hi Fathomie

I own this record, but with different back color behind the band (yellow instead of white), with different title (Hold Your Head Up) but exact the same 7 tracks. Is a dutch pressing from CBS/Embassy (EMB 31203) from 1972...but this is a reprint and 1972 is the first release date.

Fathomie, maybe this would sound as you are looking for? Do you (and tubert too) want me to rip it (24/96) and post it?

Also i have another "Hold Your Head Up" from 1978, UK-CBS pressing, with 10 tracks, some from the one tubert has posted and is mentioned by me.

And another Argent, title: Nexus, dutch Epic pressing from 1974.

I would gladly post all three LPs.

Alfredo, if you don't mind doing the rip, it would be much appreciated!

Fathomie
OK friend, is no problem but a pleasure for me. I'm recording just now this LP....look in 1-2 days for it. The other two i will post them in the next days too.

Have fun!

What a pity...in german i know a really nice poetry, that celebrates the listening to music with tubes, but it does not rhyme in english. It means: "always listen to music with tubes".

In german; "Musik immer hören mit Röhren"

hören and Röhren matches in ryhme

Mr. Tubert. Thanks a lot. I am in the process of downloading so I cannot comment on the quality (although as a rule I love your rips) "Hold Your Head Up" came out during a very low point in my teen years and although it may sound corny, it did help me a that moment, and it became my favorite song. Thanks for all your rips and for your dedication.

To Mr. Alfredo Catalani:
You are a good provider of nice quality rips and for that I sincerely thank you too and if you could offer another rip from a different edition I'll be in seventh heaven. Thanks in advance.
