One of Scotland's finest imports, Simple Minds deliver a strong synth-reared release on New Gold Dream. This album harks the darker side of the band's musicianship, and such material alludes to their forthcoming pop-stadium sound which hurled them into rock mainstream during the latter part of the '80s. They were still honing their artistic rowdiness, and Kerr's pursuing vocals were still hiding. But Simple Minds' skill of tapping into internal emotion is profound on songs such as "Someone, Somewhere in Summertime" and the album's title track. But the dance-oriented tracks like "Promised You a Miracle" and "Glittering Prize" are lushly layered in deep electronic beats — it was only a matter of time for Simple Minds to expound upon such musical creativity which made them a household favorite through the 1980s.

To make an informed decision about this offer, it would be nice to know how the ripping process was done. Does this still have watermarks? Thanks.

Sorry forgot to add it to the post.

THIS DVD-A IS WATERMARKED.

Thank you for the upload!! By the way are 24/96 flacs also 5.1? or stereo?
Posted By: Number_9 Date: 06 May 2010 01:23:34
Looking at the artwork scans, I noticed the 2.0 is only 16-bit/48 kHz...
Wouldn't converting to 24/96 reduce the audio quality?

amazing upload of this out of print treat, thanks so much :)

You're welcome folks :)

@ Number_9 - the artwork is incorrect - the 2.0 is 96/24 and was extracted with DVDAExplorer and then encoded into FLAC.

@ kobe1981 - the flac is only 96/24 2.0 as stated in the description.

Wustenratte, thanks, that's good to know.

I also did a search and found this regarding the DVD-A of 'Once Upon A Time', so it would make sense that it also holds true here.. :-)

you sure can't always depend on the outer label's info-I just bought that Simple Minds Once Upon A Time dvd-audio last night and it lists the stereo PCM track as 48/16. Oh well I thought, many of us including myself have publicly said we are buying dvd-audios mostly for the surround tracks anyway so no biggy. But when I played it on my buddy's dvd-video player and chose "PCM 2.0" from the disc's audio menu, the player's display said "LPCM 96k/24b" (same with my Pioneer 656A later on). Very cool.......but why not list THAT on the label?? FYI: the 48/16 system is used only with the two bonus videos.

Great share! How did you establish the layer break, assuming that info is in the INI? AND assuming you already know that DVDFab is crap with the layer break info?

Can you re-upload Part 1 of the 96/24 Flac? Rapidshare shows the message "Server currently under repair. Please try again later." The other parts download fine. Thanks!
