Simple Minds: Once Upon A Time (1985)
96kHz/24-bit 5.1 FLAC + 44kHz/24-bit 5.1 DTS | Source: Retail DVD-A | 2,42 GB + 401 MB| RS | 3% recovery
Genre: Pop/Rock | Label: EMI/DTS Entertainment

Riding the coat tails of the John Hughes flick The Breakfast Club, Simple Minds finally broke America with their theme song "Don't You Forget About Me," and their 1985 release Once Upon a Time captured the heart-wrenching excitement found in bands such as U2. They were now one of the biggest names in music and Jim Kerr's thirsting vocals became the band's signature. Once Upon a Time, featuring producer Jimmy Iovine (U2, Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen), showcased more of a guitar-driven sound. The band's heavy synth-pop beats had relaxed a bit and Charlie Burchill's charming playing style was most noticeable. Also enlisting the choir-like beauty of Robin Clark, Simple Minds' popularity was expounded on songs such as Alive & Kicking and "Sanctify Yourself." This album was one of their best, most likely leading the pack in the band's album roster, because it exuded raw energy and solid composition not entirely captured on previous albums. WARNING: This CD requires DTS compatible equipment or software for playback. Don't play this on equipment that isn't compatible because you'll only hear static and it can damage your speakers!

5.1 Music Disc - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The DTS-CD, DTS Audio CD or 5.1 Music Disc (official name) is an audio Compact Disc that contains music in surround sound format. It is a predecessor of DVD Audio. Physically, it conforms to the Red Book standard, except for the way the music is encoded on the CD. Where regular CDs store the music as linear PCM, the DTS-CD stores music using the DTS format, with the same fixed bitrate as 16-bit linear PCM, namely 1,411,200 bit/s or roughly 1,378 Kib/s.

As opposed to other surround formats, such as Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio, which require a specialized player, a DTS-CD is compatible with most standard CD players with a digital (S/PDIF) output. CD (and DVD) players recognize the disk as a standard audio CD. The only requirement is a receiver that can decode DTS audio.

thanks for this post! is there a 2.0 mlp track as well? or is this only 5.1 DTS only?

I don't understand why you wanna post multiple 5.1 streams. Would have been better if you had gone for a combination of 5.1 and 2.0. Thanks for the post nevertheless.

I LOVE the New Gold Dream post and the 2.0 version. Can you post Once Upon A Time in 2.0 as well? By the way.....how do you play the 5.1 version from the iso file, or can you? Having some difficulty with this. Maybe I don't have the right software to do this.... Thank a million!

Topographicyesman:
Use Foobar2000 to play the iso. It is fast becoming the best all-rounder soft for such things.
You will need various plugins, placed in Foobar's 'component' folder of the program directory, to play things like DTS,MLP, DVD-A iso etc. Google it.
