Review by Becky Dunmall

This is Eric Sardinas sixth studio release, and what a release it is, full of raw energy and power that one would only gain from over twenty years of musical experience. ‘Stick and Stones’ mixture of blues and rock allows Sardinas to show off his immense talent for writing and performing great, non-traditional “love” songs.

‘Sticks and Stones’ is an 11 track joy ride, from opening number ‘Cherry Wine’, a song that makes you want to stop what you are doing and dance, all the way to the closing track ‘Too Many Ghosts’.

Although there are a few tracks that weren’t necessarily my favourites, they all seemed to have redeeming features, like ‘Burnin’ Sugar’, I didn’t really enjoy the song, but loved the lyrics “Your’re the only one that likes to bleed for fun”.
At the midway point you get a gem of a track with ‘Through The Thorns’ which is slightly slower than some of his more up-tempo numbers, however the atmosphere the lyrics and music create are amazing.

Instrumental ‘Behind the 8’ is a great break towards the end of the album, the combinations of the instruments are remarkable and the guitar playing is truly incredible, showing off Sardinas talent for the guitar.

Closing the album is the only ballad ‘Too Many Ghosts’, a very emotional song which shows great passion and some amazing lyrics which combine to make it the stand out track of the album.
