While most definitely not on the same tier as Innervisions or Songs in the Key of Life, Hotter Than July is the portrait of an artist who still had the Midas touch, but stood at the crossroads of an illustrious career.
- Rob Theakston/AMG (4.5/5 Stars)

Hotter than July is the nineteenth album by Stevie Wonder, originally released on Motown's Tamla label on September 29, 1980. Despite the wide critical acclaim for Wonder's previous works such as Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions, Hotter than July was his first album eligible for platinum status, as Motown sales records before 1977 were not audited by the RIAA. This was his most successful album in the UK, peaking at #2 and producing four top ten singles.

Hotter than July was nominated for Favorite Soul/R&B Album at the American Music Awards in 1982.

Im enjoying this more even though it's a old digital mix for the vinyl or any medium I just had to bring down the eq high's a little which sometimes you just need to do so you ears don't get fatigue. Most of the last 2 high eq bands is in the middle a millimeter in the high register little up from the middle. For this rip I had to middle low in the last two high band eq had no choice. My regular eq high setting was as I was writing. middle to the mid top. Wonder why this LP is so hot. Normally audiophile systems have no eq at all except like Mcintosh pre amps they have a bass and treble control. But my music now is played through my PC and external hard drives. I have a audiophile car system. Where there I play cd's. Home I don't have audiophile because my PC as my player I don't see as audiophile.
