Perhaps "The Last Gasp" would have been a more apt title here. Spooky Tooth appeared to be on its last legs, and being propped up by members of the Grease Band, this record should have been merely one of those contract fulfillments, but it isn't. It's a good, solid effort that includes a burning cover of the Beatles' "I Am the Walrus." Unfortunately, Spooky Tooth didn't stay together to reap the rewards of this new combination of musicians. -all music

tubert says: It took some large ones for the Tooths to undertake a serious cover of "Walrus" in 1970. People like Pat Boone, the Carpenters, and various other "elevator" artists had remade Beatles songs by then. So had Yes and Deep Purple but "Walrus"? With no other musicians but band members (and some backup vocals)? This version blew a few minds when it came out. To this day it remains a wonderful cover. They probably should have saved it to start side two with as nothing else on the album imparts the listener with such impact.

As the review before mine says "It's a good, solid effort". And nothing says "solid" here as much as "Son of Your Father". This track could have well fit on Procol Harum's "Broken Barricades". Track two "The Wrong Time" stands on its own and is a total Spooky groove. All in all, it's a much better album than I remembered.

I'd like to dedicate this rip to the Purple Parrot. I think he lent his UK copy to someone who never ripped it?

Side One:
01 - I Am the Walrus
02 - The Wrong Time
03 - Something to Say

Side Two:
04 - Nobody There at All
05 - Down River
06 - Son of Your Father
07 - The Last Puff

Feel free to puff along with your vinyl playmate. -tubert

Well I'm glad I got a version from somewhere....at last!
Puff!
Maybe this will spur Euripides to get round to my other vinyls he has?
LOL

@ tubert
Thank you for being one of the few who know about Spooky Tooth!
I shared Spooky Two with a friend and he made a nice 5.1 upmix of it.
I could share it, if you were interested in Spooky surround sound?

@ ManWhoCan. I knew someone sent a copy of this to Euripides so I re-dedicate this rip to you. As for the 5.1? Thanks but I'm not a fan of surround sound music. Others might enjoy it?

Thanks for this and every other excellent rips you've made. I like ST and I believe this is the first Mike Harrison solo album disguised. By the way, as the solo efforts of ST members are very nice too, perhaps you may have a preserved version of "Extraction", by Gary Wright. Mine is all beaten and people would like to hear this.

"Feel free to puff along with your vinyl playmate. -tubert"

Lol, colloquially the word "puff" means something like brothel in german, with this in mind the line above leaves a disturbing impression :D

Nevertheless, i like spooky tooth and have far too few vinyls from them, so thanks for this recording tubert! I'm sure it's a great album and will sound amazing!
