The Doors - Absolutely Live
Rhino 180g 2 LP-Set / 8122798168
Mastered by Doug Sax @ The Mastering Lab, NY

Vinyl rip in 24-bit/192kHz (converted to 24/96 & 16/44.1) | FLAC | m3u, cue & Tech Log
Artwork | 1.7 gb / 520 mb incl. recovery | Rapidshare & FileFactory | Rock | 1970

Strong performances and audio. Two previously unrecorded blues, a predictable new original called "Build Me a Woman," a surprising new original called "Universal Mind," several new fragments, and an intelligent medley. Plus "The Celebration of the Lizard" in its full theatrical glory--or rather, since this is a record, half of it. Problem is, I don't happen to be into reptiles when the music's over, much less while it's on.
- Robert Christgau

Absolutely Live is the first live album released by American rock band The Doors in July 1970. Many shows were recorded during the 1970 tour to create the "Absolutely Live" album. The Doors producer, and long time collaborator Paul Rothchild painstakingly edited the album from many different shows to create one cohesive concert. For example, the best part of a song from the Detroit show may have been spliced together with another part of the same song from the Boston show, again trying to create "the ultimate concert". It can become very difficult to identify what parts are from what shows. Rothchild has said "I couldn't get complete takes of a lot of songs, so sometimes I'd cut from Detroit to Philadelphia in midsong. There must be 2,000 edits on that album".

Personal Note

With my vinyl transfers, I try to catch the whole beauty of vinyl records; therefore I don't use any post-processing or any sound improvement. What you get is a clear and flat transfer. For getting a clear sound, I'll do an extended washing of each record with my RCM, which can take up to 30 minutes brushing on each side. Resistant ticks and clicks I try to remove as good as possible, but the priority is not to lose any musical information in the process. Surface noises, as long they are not too high, are left in place. Only on bad pressings or on records recorded at extremely low levels do I use a fade in-/-out. As John Peel said, "Life is full of surface noises." In some cases this means that I have to make a compromise.... The result has to pass my personal quality criteria, which is IMO quite high.

Absolutely great re-issue and ripping work.

Though I'm not an absolute fan of Rhino LP re-issue...this particulary one sounds really great. Add to this a perfect rip from aksman and you got to my ears the best audiophile version of this great live doors 2LP I've been allowed to listen to so far.
Thanx a million aksman for this beauty :-)

Thanks a LOT, Aksman:
To me, this vinyl is a great treasure.
I went in to Germany in finals of 1974 to visit my sister.
There, she buy to me this record.
We play this in a Telefunken hand-made equipment.
The cartrigde was a simple Shure.
For the car, we record a BASF - Chrome (90 min.) and so
I return to Spain.
Today, I still retain the cassette.
Note: In Germany, 1974, I buy a very rare record-player cassete Universum.
In this year, this primitive tape-desk becomes with an amazing B-Dolby System Noise Reduction.
Is a pleasure can to heard your crystal clinic clear ripping.
Chapeau!
