| “ | My Point of View and Inventions and Dimensions found Herbie Hancock exploring the fringes of hard bop, working with a big band and a Latin-flavored percussion section, respectively. On Empyrean Isles, he returns to hard bop, but the results are anything but conventional. Working with cornetist Freddie Hubbard, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Tony Williams -- a trio just as young and adventurous as he was -- Hancock pushes at the borders of hard bop, finding a brilliantly evocative balance between traditional bop, soul-injected grooves, and experimental, post-modal jazz. Hancock's four original concepts are loosely based on the myths of the Empyrean Isles, and they are designed to push the limits of the band and of hard bop. Even "Cantaloupe Island," well-known for its funky piano riff, takes chances and doesn't just ride the groove. "The Egg," with its minimal melody and extended solo improvisations, is the riskiest number on the record, but it works because each musician spins inventive, challenging solos that defy convention. In comparison, "One Finger Snap" and "Oliloqui Valley" (alternate takes of both tracks are included as bonuses on the CD reissue) adhere to hard bop conventions, but each song finds the quartet vigorously searching for new sonic territory with convincing fire. That passion informs all of Empyrean Isles, a record that officially established Hancock as a major artist in his own right. --Allmusic | ” |

But because of the hosts I have to pas this.
Thank you any way.
What's the prob. with the hosts?
Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for the continued jazz rips. You are my go to guy for jazz and modern rock needledrops. Everyone else 'drops classic rock and prog rock rips--you have certainly carved your own path.
Peace out and happy holidays,
Greg
PS: how do you say "happy holidays" in French? :)
Speed 50 kbps and less, intimidatie by filesonic "you are downloading allready", need all day to download few files, broken downloads etc.
No problem I can wait for better chance.
We say "Bonne vacances", but not for me, it's time for me to start my winter season on the ski station where I work as a doc...
Thanks anyway...
oh ... et merci aussi à Knut Vale & Randall Trowbridge
You cant satisfy the whole world on your own. Some will always find something to complain about.
Man... first wayne shorter's juju and now this...
All I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I will wait until after 1:30 am local time as then sometime vilesonic will work reasonably.
Thanks for the quality rip.
@ all complaining about filehost : I hope everyone before complaining has tested leecher sites. Personally when I really want an album (like here) I don't care much about how it has been shared! It has been ripped shared what do you want more? Personalized USB key with the rip? Excuse me but I'm tired of people complaining about filehost, this is just so reliable! many many ways of downloading it, not just click on the download button after the 30sec and the captcha...
Heah all you d'bags complaining, buy a freaking premium account already and quit bitching!
can't you read already!
Hey fredist and all you others complaining about me complaining about sh!t from vile sonic.
I have every right to complain about a service I pay for (as in premium account dummy) and don't get!
I have no complaint about the rippers here, but I can't stand you tossers who mouth off without knowing the facts.
I must have 50 comments on these Hi res pages bemoaning my cr@p service from vilesonic over the past year. It is a well documented record that I have premium accounts with several hosts inc vile sonic and all are reasonable, except RS which is superb, and vile sonic which is totally sh1t.
10KB/s on a premium account, how does that grab you as something to complain about?
5 mins to download from RS abut 900MB and on the same evening 2 hours to get 300Mb from vilesonic!
vile drops parts truncates parts screws up in all manners imaginable and lies about it being able to resume downloads.
I have plenty to complain about and I do it here so my friends here can benefit from the knowledge of my experience, and possibly the mods here might eventually take notice and get out of bed with vilesonic.
Anyone who thinks me complaining about vilesonic has anything to do with the Avax rippers/posters is demented!
I have full admiration and respect for all posters and non for freeloading tossers who comment about things they know nothing about.
thanks again kel bazar & Knut Vale & Randall Trowbridge for this mindblowing album :) Killer pressing
I wish all the best and to you Kel all the best for the ski season I will personally be Barbecuing for the summer and swimming in the sea.
Thanks for all you post Kel and look forward to all you post in the future
@ManWhoCan: Yes you have the right to complain about the service you obviously don't get. But I also get bugged by your trolling about that in almost every post here and elsewhere. You can be sure ... we all know the facts now, that you have your problems with this service. But here is definitely not the right place for such complaints, you better try to find out whats wrong with your individual connection. The issue has obviously nothing to do with the rippers, it's your own individual problem. So please shut up about that issue here and lets talk about the music.
Agreed
i'm premium at filesonic too, and I sometimes also have very very very bad downloading speeds ... don't care, I use the multiple hosts provided by the rippers/posters.
I think filesonic is victim of his success, sometimes their servers are very busy i think. But most of the time, I've got good DL speeds
okay I shut up my mouth, not the place to talk 'bout it, I'm out
very nice sounding rip by the way
I will never mention VS ever again.
I did not realise how annoying some people found it.
I apologise to those who were upset at my complaints about the unmentionable.
Isn't this place great for great Hi Res music?
We are so lucky to have Avax home.
We accept yours apology. ;-)
Merci
Filesonic (premium) works fine, with great speed in Denmark...
d'bag comment now retracted...rock on!
One more thanks to Knut Vale & Randall Trowbridge
