IL GRIDO reverses Antonioni's preoccupation with women and their relationships with men to focus on the man, showing him lost and ineffectual when he can no longer take the traditional role vis-a-vis women.


IL GRIDO is the first film in which Antonioni consistently built the narrative according to completely novel principles, which were to exert great influence on the development of the cinema.
