Why after I add a link and start the download with a premium account, it says link is currupted?

Otherwise, it would be awesome software.

It is FREEWARE why would you need mirrors?
Posted By: mammothby Date: 29 Oct 2006 09:24:12
Because they still want points! :-)

@ crackpot21

"It is FREEWARE why would you need mirrors?"

Because some people are either greedy to the bones or have no brain. Exactly for that reason I even gave the original download site.

What actually "SSL Libray" for?
Without this Rapget won't work correctly?

Does anyone know for sure if this Software is safe? I read somewhere online that installing the Open SSL Library is banned in certain countries for encryption and security reasons plus it opens up your computer to hacker attacks or software using the Open SSL Library can send out your data from your computer unknown to you? Can someone please enlighten us about this? This seems like a great piece of software to have but if it creates a security risk then it's not worth it. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to the replies.

Go to rapget.com (the Rapget author's actual site) and get the software there. There's no need to go to anyone's rapidshare link for ANY of it. It's free, and the links WORK (and you can avoid feeding the points-hungry trolls as well).

Even the SSL stuff required is linked off the download page at rapget.com... there's NO need to go to ANY other website for ANY of this.

Ok, thanks xblahx but is rapget and Open SSL safe? Will they create a security risk on my computer? Does anyone know for sure?

iirc, the openssl files are opensource and clean. rapget seems clean, too...as long as you get it from the original author's site, imo. I've been using it a long time and i've never had an issue. that doesn't mean you're guaranteed to be secure, of course, but I don't see any problems with rapget or the ssl libs specifically.

I can't get the programs to work for me. Where should I put the OpenSSL folder? I installed to C:OpenSSL, and tried copying the whole folder to windowssystem32. Still I have problems downloading from rapidshare.com.

Yes, please tell us how to properly install OpenSSL so we can give rapget a try. I did a search on openssl and I found that the current version 0.9.8d still has some security issues. Here is the link to the Security Advisory from the OpenSSL home page: http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20060928.txt

So I think we should be cautious about using rapget with open ssl or wait until the openssl bugs have been patched.

I found out where to install OpenSSL to get it to work. Just install it into the C:WINNTsystem32 for Windows 2000 or into the C:Windowssystem32 directory for Win98 and into the system32 directory for Win XP wherever that is. I don't use WinXP so I'm not sure where of the path to it's system32 directory.
