This disc was nominated for the 1998 Grammy Award for "Best Classical Vocal Performance." Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's compositions are, on the whole, pieces of ageless beauty. Hearing the voice of Vesselina Kasarova bring life to his arias is a testament to the power of performance. Bulgarian-born Kasarova is a unique voice, in that from early youth her musical training focused on the piano. It was only after earning her concert degree that she turned her attention to vocal performance. Her additional study adds depth to her understanding of the music, and this comes through when she sings.
