Just finished listening, and I also did a quick comparison with the CD from the Capitol box, and the MFSL CD of this recording, well, there is no comparison :P
This one's the keeper, thanks once again, looking forward to the others from the series :)

Thanks a bunch! Stellar collection. I am not in a position to complain, but out of curiousity, what happened to track 8, side 2? Cheers!
Posted By: VanPelten Date: 28 Jul 2009 16:54:27
@thedukeofprunes: Side B of this LP has seven (7) tracks; please refer to the info contained in the album scans included with the download.
Posted By: thedukeofprunes Date: 28 Jul 2009 20:13:43
VanPelten: Sorry for the false inquiry. There is a typo on the record sleeve. Please refer to your included scan 'Inside_cover_fold.jpg'. on the bottom half just under the 'Produced by Voyle Gilmore' it says 'This Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Edition includes all 16 selections [...]'

Oops! I didn't even verify the track count on the other scan before posting. It is not often MFSL would make such an error! Thanks again.

@thedukeofprunes: Good grief! I just saw Mobil Fidelity's howler on the inside cover regarding "16 selections" after you called it to my attention...I rarely touch the set to keep it as pristine as possible and a poor proofreader in the bargain. Very astute of you. Just for everyone's comfort level, I also shot the side B label (and should probably do that for the remainder of the posts)...helps verify legitimacy:)

Wow, thanks for such a superb needle drop (an understatement) as well as the rest of your Sinatra shares!! The sonics are spectacular, to say the least! I'm gobbling them up as quickly as my ISP allows me to ;>o

In a 'roundabout way, thanks also to Dr. Robert for posting the set fill-ins that brought me to your rips via link posts. Hope you're well and can make some time to bring us more goodies.

Waves are cutoff at 22khz..
Posted By: Dr. Robert Date: 15 Jun 2010 07:38:27
@ Oppo

I think the frequency cut off was a driver/OS setting issue. I have seen the OS lock the audio card at 16/44.1 even the ripper sets his capture software at 24/96. It is hard to catch unless we view a spectrogram. There is not much above 22kHz otherwise.
Posted By: mikeseneca Date: 20 Jun 2010 11:31:02
@Dr. Robert
Fortunately I downloaded this one in addition to your rip and, spectrogram notwithstanding, and there's no question that THIS ONE sounds infinitely BETTER than yours, sorry to say Herr Dr:) Oh, and my speakers are Thiel CS3.7s driven by Audio Research electronics feeding hires files from my HD to a Linn Sneaky Music DS (digital stream ) player.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Your picking at Pelten's rips, that is...not the music *haha*

Posted By: Dr. Robert Date: 26 Jun 2010 17:03:40
@ mikeseneca

Actually there is no "sour grapes" on my part. I was trying to debunk and explain to my friend 0pp0 why these VanPelton rips appeared to him looking like up sampled redbook sources. His original misinformed comment was edited at my request.

Yes these VP rips sound great even with the minor ripping errors. Each of our mutual rips have a very different soundstage. Some folks like my sound. Others such as yourself prefer the VP rips. Then again others prefer the 21 disk EMI CD set. It is just too bad Mr. VanPelton was unable to complete the box set. You are welcome to grab the missing LP's from my collection of rips.
