ALBUM NOTES

Includes liner notes by Danny Sugarman.

Digitally remastered by Bruce Botnick.

The Doors: John Densmore, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, Jim Morrison.

In 1965, University of California student Ray Manzarek invited a fellow student, singer/songwriter Jim Morrison, to join his and his two brothers' R&B band, Rick And The Ravens. Manzarek then recruited drummer John Densmore. His brothers then dropped out of the group, replaced by guitarist Robbie Krieger. The group, now named the Doors, became popular on the Los Angeles club scene. Elektra recording artists Love recommended the group to their label, which signed them in 1966. THE DOORS, released in 1967, showcased Manzarek's flowing organ and Morrison's dramatic voice.
The group achieved massive success, but Morrison's frustration with his role as a pop idol grew ever more pronounced. In July 1969, following a concert in Miami, he was indicted for indecent exposure, public intoxication and profane, lewd and lascivious conduct. Although he was later acquitted of all but the minor charges, the incident forced the group to cancel its next few months of concerts. MORRISON HOTEL, a tough R&B-based collection, matched the best of their early releases. However, Morrison now preferred to write poetry. Having completed sessions for a new album, he escaped to Paris to pursue a literary career. On 3 July 1971, he was found dead in his bathtub. The official cause was a heart attack.
LA WOMAN, Morrison's final recording with the Doors, is one of their finest achievements, including 'Riders On The Storm'. The surviving Doors soldiered on for two more albums before disbanding. Interest in the Doors flourished throughout the 70s and in 1991, the film biography The Doors appeared.

All tracks are devided into two large split archives, each containing whole disc.

Thanks, but no thanks.
Rapidsafe is too much of a hassle for me - and I've got premium!!
It's just not worth it!

Mr. JOYce, from my side I higly respect your right to be unsatisfied, but instead of apologies I highly recommend you to use your head and check direct-download feature in your premium account. Just try this and it will cut your crying time to minimum.

With regards and respect, your mean marcian friend.

- And don't forget to say hello to my little friend. -

P.S. No offence, but first ask. 90% of your troubles have been already solved by other and If you try to search, you will eventually understand it.

P.P.S. If you ever cared - rapidsafe is the only (this time I made a bad mistake - rapidsafe no longer can smartly avoid giving away file parametres - now it is useless in terms of conspiracy). Thanks to joyce, I found it out.

Doesn't work for me :( This new Macromedia menu in your RapidSAFE folder locks the IE and Opera browsers and doesn't start download in the FireFox. Is it possible just put it as regular downloads not into the RapidSAFE folder? Thanks!

Ferry:

My experience is that the community here is quite varied. Some exhibit both competency and cordiality. Others expect to be spoon fed pablum.

All JMO.

My copy of this that bought in 1991 says copyright 1985, has the same UPC and cover art that you have. Amazon sell one remastered with a different cover released on WEA international in 2000, and another remastered with same cover on Rhino/WEA released in 2006. They don't show the UPC codes, just the newer B codes. Are you sure this one is really a remastered one?

BTW, to use RapidSafe links, needed to install flash in firefox and nothing happens when clicking on download buttons (free or premium). i hate flash because u cant block flash ads like jpeg ads. So it's good to me someone posted real links!

Glad to be of assistance, Ferry.......I think!?

Yeah LQ, me love to be spoon-fed. It reminds me of Mummy....do you remember Mummy?
Such a lovely person.....Mmmmm...such lovely memories.

FYI I'm not a Mr, I'm a Miss or if you prefer, a Ms. But hey, who cares?
Now, where's my Mummy gone?

roybaty, You are right to ask this question - I took supplied info from ebay lot (http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-DOORS-2-Cd-Best-of-new-remaster_W0QQitemZ250143858886QQcmdZViewItem), where this very cd is sold, as I have a-third-party copy of it. Why am so sure about remaster? Another great question, I had Doors original cds for many years, and when I got my hands on this - my doubts were immediately purged. I do not what It means to you, but my ears feel cleaner voice, sharpened music... I can not tell what has been done to achieve this, but the fact that the originals sound (a bit) different is quite evident. Well, at least for me and my ears.

Yes, There are at least 3 known (to me) remastered versions of The Best Of Doors, quite a mess, you know.

And Ms. Joyce, I am sorry to be non-puritan heartless bastard. Cheers!

Hi folks, Since all rapidshare links are dead I propose you to download from ftp2share folder.

You can guess that names are dabbed, first cd is: EvenIfWeFallOurNumbersAreMany, the second is about our close relatives.
