Mysterious Ways followed the Fly as the second single off of Achtung Baby, released one week after the album itself was released. The Fly had taken the college radio stations by storm, it was so different and although it had success there, it was having trouble gaining airplay on more commercial radio stations. The second single quickly found itself rising in the charts on these stations where the Fly had difficulty.
The cover of this release fits together with the covers from the Fly, Even Better than the Real Thing, and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses single covers to form a larger image.
