The Artist

Betsy Pecanins was born in Yuma, Arizona, to a North American father and a Spanish (Catalan) mother. Mexico, where she has lived since 1977, is her third home: she has spent time there all through her life, and it is her country of choice. Both composer and singer, Betsy has made an impact with the power and quality of her voice at virtually every major venue in Mexico, as well as during her many appearances abroad.
Betsy was raised amid a wide range of musical influences, from blues to contemporary and experimental music, including rock, arranged poetry and fusion. The blues come so naturally to her that this sound is the primal source of her singing and composing style, being one of her most irrevocable points of artistic reference. Her professional singing career began in 1973, in Barcelona. Since then, she has pursued an active career on stage and in the studio, recording eleven discs in English, Catalan and Spanish. Betsy works in constant collaboration with artists from different fields, such as the poets Alberto Blanco, Carmen Boullosa, David Huerta and Magali Lara. She has also joined creative forces with other composers, including Guillermo Briseño, Marcial Alejandro, Jaime López and Pepe Elorza in the field of popular music, and in contemporary music with Arturo Márquez, Federico Alvarez del Toro, Vicente Rojo Cama, Armando Contreras and the Catalan composer Carles Santos. She performed the voice of the legendary singer, Lucha Reyes, in Arturo Ripstein's biographical movie, La Reina de la Noche.
Betsy's presence is essential at blues festivals in Mexico. She has been a constant musical force on Mexican radio, and on both the cultural and commercial channels of national TV. The emotional and expressive power of Betsy Pecanins' musical artistry, and the originality of a multicultural and multidisciplinary project, with ever-increasing ramifications, have won her a special place in the music of our times. Hers is one of the most personal and intense voices of Mexico, Latin America, and the world.

Dear Laila..
This is a great album indeed, and really thank u very much for sharing..
A small problem though..
The album file comes with an .ape extension wich is a monkey audio format, if I'm correct..
I have tried to split the files with a small program called 'Medieval cue splitter', but this don't work unless I get the Monkey Audio programm [MAC]..
So, my question is, what happens if I don't want to do that?
Any suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance..

Dear asteri33.
You need not only MAC, but also Exact Audio Copy to split the large APE file in separate ones. Anywhere in this same webpage the procedure has been posted long time ago. Below I'm copying for you:

What to do with APE+CUE

00. You can listen at once to a file *.ape – for example in a player foobar2000 (Freeware). Or read further.
01. Download Monkey's Audio (Freeware).
02. Extract *.ape by means of Monkey's Audio.
03. Have received one big file *.wav. It is an exact image of musical CD.
04. Rename a file *.wav (for example, Musik.wav).
05. Open a file *.cue in a Notepad (or any other text editor – actually it is a usual file *.txt).
06. In the top lines we see section FILE. In it it is for example written:
FILE "ıπÔ„.fiú. [6PAIR°ä ›„ÈÔˆüfiï] .‚›¿ú. (APE) .ape" WAVE.
07. We change this line on FILE "Musik.wav" WAVE.
08. Now you can mount Musik.wav in virtual CD-ROM (for example, by means of Alcohol 120%). And to listen to a file as usual musical CD. Or read further.
09. Download EAC (Freeware).
10. In menu EAC choose: “Tools => Split WAV By CUE Sheet...”.
11. After processing you receive some files *.wav (their number to equally quantity of songs on a disk).
12. Select them by means of mouse also move in window EAC.
13. EAC transforms *.wav in *.mp3 (or any other format – according to your desire).
14. Enjoy.

Hope this time you could be successful spliting the large one chunk in its individual files.
Regards.
