Jimmy's style has always combined the best of blues and Kansas City jazz, and Robillard's band pulls off these arrangements with understated elegance. Spoon is in fine voice on this session, and his phrasing and timing are impeccable, as always. The masterpiece here is "Kansas City". Sung with subtle joy with a hint of melancholy, Spoon shows us one last time why he is so beloved by blues and jazz fans alike.
