One of the outstanding songs in this group is "I Believe I'll Make A Change", featuring some excellent guitar accompaniment. "Blues Before Sunrise" has the most integrated and imaginative set of lyrics. "Big Four Blues", "Shining Pistol", and "It's Too Short" feature the guitar of Blackwell and Josh White. Now and then Blackwell leaves the high notes and teases us with a couple of bars of boogie rhythm on the basss, as on "Midnight Hour Blues". Throughout all the songs, Leroy's voice is at its peak, without a trace of the internal havoc being wrought by the years of excessive drinking.
