Sardinas and his powerful rhythm section (Big Motor) reinterpret the music of his roots into a unique driving contemporary blues-rock sound.

Despite having a picture of the barret era band on the cover this recording actually comes from a promotion white label release that was put out by the band in 1970. This means the sound is exellent although it does contain a few flaws(bass distortion at the start of the Embyro and a PA problem for a second or so during Cymbaline). It has also been released on the cd set "montruex casino" that also included an average audience recordings of the next night and some common BBC material. There are a number of rarties playing during this september 1970 concert from switerland that combined with its exellent sound quality make this one of the best recordings for floyd fans to startcollecting unoffical recordings.

In my opinion this is not one of Johnny's better performances. He seems to slip out of the groove a little in places, most noticeably during Red House. On a more positive note, the slide guitar on Mojo Boogie and Highway 61 Revisited is right on the money...

Live performance has always played an important part in Kraftwerk's activities. Also, despite its live shows generally being based around formal songs and compositions, live improvisation often plays a noticeable role in its performances. This trait can be traced back to the group's roots in the first experimental Krautrock scene of the late 1960s, but, significantly, it has continued to be a part of its playing even as it makes ever greater use of digital and computer-controlled sequencing in its performances. Begun as a small project by one Hendrix fan, synching up the audio to the outtake footage, this DVD began to take on a life of its own. Beggining by laying out the audio soundtrack in an A/V editor, the video segments were then carefully placed in position, with missing sections patched using crowd scenes from the movie, as well as related Hawaiian footage & other stock shots. By the time it was complete, nearly a hundred hours had been spent on the project, with almost a hundred and fourty edits required to compile the show. The end result? An incredible piece of work, by one true Jimi fan for all other true Jimi fans. Until an official release comes out, you won't get any better than this.

In mid-1991, Newbury recorded some demo tracks at Triad Studios in Eugene, Oregon, as a favour to the previous owner. He wasn't satisfied with the tracks, mostly covers, and they were never released. But on the two occasions when he sings his own songs, he goes off into two- or three-song medleys, and these just may be some of the best stuff he ever did.
