Few albums are as fueled by hope, possibility, and the lure of the open road as Born to Run, a virtual concept album about small-town Jerseyites in search of a better life via hot-rodding out on the turnpike, scoring some small-time hustle, or blowing out of town altogether, either across the river to New York City or west for parts unknown. Songs like "Jungleland," "Thunder Road," "Backstreets," and the title track are epic productions, both sonically and lyrically, borrowing from Phil Spector, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and West Side Story. When Born to Run was released in 1975, it earned then-unknown Springsteen the rare honor of simultaneous covers on both Time and Newsweek. The attention was warranted then, and it still is now. --Daniel Durchholz

ich hab' alles bekommen - I get all...thank you for this CD
[When the internet was getting more and more popular and the music started spreading that way I realised that Bruce Springsteen probably didn't mind. Bootlegs of his concerts and studio rehersals are all over the place and he seems to me the only artist who doesn't care. Maybe this is because he has been there (or still is...)
Boots of Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zappa, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, etc, are wiped out pretty fast, but those of Bruce aren't.]
So I was very pleasantly surprised that finally the remastered version of Born To Run came out, together with a DVD of The Making Of and some live material.
The sound quality again was a big difference, compared to the "original" CD - maybe a little bit too much high notes at some places (as if they used an equaliser...).
But now there even is a Gold Disc of this. I'm very curious, of course, and will compare this to the "normal" remastered version.
So: thanks for giving me this opportunity Darkkman! :-)
The "normal" version has at places too much high, sometimes so much that it hurts (they probably used an equaliser...), but the overall sound is more dynamic than the Gold CD: better contour, deeper bass, more natural sound.
The Gold CD brings a little bit a blanket over the sound, as there was with the not-remastered version. It is not so dull as it was before, but it still is like listening behind a blanket.
So for me they both are not good enough. I hope to find one day another version which solves the problems with these versions.
SACD?
have a nice time - and please keep up the good work!
