The Chieftains Part 1 (reconstruction) - New Links

This is a reconstruction of previous posting which have disappeared (due to malignant external forces) or are dieing as I have abandoned my .de account as I cant post to it any more. Like most of the Irish anywhere in the world I am as stubborn as hell and wont let the BASTARDS win. I apologize for the hidden links but I'm trying to keep them up for more than 24 hours.

In 1962, Paddy Moloney, an uillean piper from Dublin, along with Martin Fay, fiddle and bones, Seán Potts, tin whistle, Micheal Tubridy, flute, and a friend of Paddy's, bodhrán player, David Fallon met to record a one-time album for Garech a Brún's Claddagh label under the title of The Chieftains, was released in 1963. The musicians involved in recording of this album were already familiar with each others talents from playing together in Seán Ó Ríada's folk orchestra, Ceoltóirí Cualann, and from various sessions in and around Dublin since the late 1950s. 44 Years on they are still producing wonderful music.

I first saw the chieftains in the early 70's and have been a devotee of their music ever since. They are best listened to with a pint of Guinness or a wee Bush in the hand and the back room of an old Irish pub in the mind (not the Plastic English/Australian version).
