| “ | Andrés Torres Segovia, 1st Marquess of Salobreña (21 February 1893–2 June 1987) was a Spanish classical guitarist born in Linares, Jaén, Spain. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures of the classical guitar in the beginning and mid 20th century. Segovia's main musical aesthetic preferences were music of the late 19th and early 20th century especially in the Spanish romantic and nationalist style - a style different from flamenco. Many works of this style were written especially for him and formed part of his core repertoire, e.g. the guitar works of Federico Moreno Torroba (1891-1982).
Ultimately, Segovia's legacy does not lie in the recordings that he left, or in his controversial performances of some works (e.g. baroque), or in his often controversial behaviour towards others (masterclasses, etc.), or in the claims of his self-promotion... Instead it lies in the memory of the deeply personal way in which he performed during live recitals - communicating, sharing and connecting with his listeners in a very personal and unique way.

This 2002 edition of some of the most famous works performed by Segovia it’s a German release from The International Music Company. Each disc comes in its own paper sleeve and I found until now just 4 of the five CD of this edition. However the value of these recordings pleads for sharing, even in this form, and I hope I could find soon the first CD with Bach works.

Where´s de CD number 1?
Excellente post!
Gracias,
librawinmx, from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro
Concerning the first album, as I've already said in the text:
"Each disc comes in its own paper sleeve and I found until now just 4 of the five CD of this edition. However the value of these recordings pleads for sharing, even in this form, and I hope I could find soon the first CD with Bach works."
Then, of course, I'll immediately post it here.
This is a very nice post, but:
I cannot play the ape files.
I am using Free Ape Player 1.5.1, but I have also tried
other players.
Anybody else had the same problem?
Am I missing something?
There is no archivation problem; I downloaded myself all the files and I extracted them like everybody else.
All went fine.
I think that you may try to download again at least one album, but I really don't think this is the problem.
Seeing you are saying I instantly open Free Ape Player 1.5.0 and I saw that is no problem with each of the four ape files.
You can also try Foobar2000 which is also free but I think is a better software - at least you can open just cue files and you can listen each piece separate or the entire CD but knowing in every moment the piece performed.
Just try it (http://www.foobar2000.org/?page=Download) and you'll leave Free Ape Player ... :)
LE: I just downloaded the 1.5.1 version of Free Ape Player, I installed it and all the ape files are played without problems.
thanks.
About ape player try mediamonkey, is a very good player. It is a freeware
To zedda piras: a great thank you.
Thanks again
Thank you to all of you for the feed-back!
I'll try to continue here with good lossless music.
I post the solution here, for anyone who has the same problem.
The problem has to do with UNICODE and the é in Andrés!
Upon examining (with Notepad) a cue file (after extraction), I realized that
in the text of the file, the name "Andrés" was saved (possibly due to
a UNICODE incompatibility) as: "Andrιs", although the name of the
file was correctly saved as "Andrés".
I copied the word "Andrιs" and renamed the ape and cue file by pasting, thus replacing Andrés
with "Andrιs".
Everything now is normal.
I want to thank everybody for their support.
(I also downloaded foobar2000 with Monkey's Audio decoding support, whose error messages
by the way helped me find the solution, and I now enjoy Segovia).
Thanks again zedda piras.
Any help?
