Here are two CD's of some London symphonies that Hogwood and the AAM recorded in the early 80's and I bought at that time. I remember been stuck for the incredibly lively and the amazing number of details of the performance (I was used to the comparatively 'very boring' Haydn of Karajan, Bernstein and Böhm (Jochum still didn't come my way)). Just listen to the last movement of any of the symphonies and you will realize what I mean. Since then these recordings are undoubtedly part of my desert island CDs. The instrumental sound is very different to that of the 90's volumes recordings that I posted, specially in the strings section that sound harsher, but I love this and makes the different sections of the orchestra to be better identified, so we can enjoy the absolutely perfect orchestration of that old genius, Haydn.

Symphonies no.100 and 104 (in the transcriptions of Salomon)were recorded with the Salomon Quartet and Lisa Beznosiuk at roughly the same time; you wouldn't by chance have a copy that you could make available here too?

Wow! Thank you. I love Hogwood's Eighties recordings, so am very much looking forward to hearing these. I just wish he would have done the whole Paris and London cycles. Thanks again.
