Tetrazzini: Prima Voce - Luisa Tetrazzini
opera/classical | EACrip | FLAC + CUE + Booklet | 228 MB | RS

The mythical prima donna who stablished the bel canto school for the XX century.

Algunos niños coleccionan estampillas, tarjetas deportivas, canicas...

Some kids collect stamps, baseball cards, marbles... When I was a boy I collected 78 RPM records. One of the first I got was recorded only by one side. It has a pink label in french language with a strange name: "Madame Tetrazzini" and she sung: "Swiss echo song", recorded on 1911. When I heard it I fall in love with that voice, so high, so agile and absolutely not intelligible. I had a challenge then: to buy every record I could find of "Madame Tetrazzini". It was a hard job at the beginings of the 80's.

I like to share with you now this gem of the mythic soprano de coloratura, close friend of Caruso, Chaliapin and Ruffo inter alia ;)
By the way you can find that song I liked to hear in my childhood in the 6th track.

She was as famous as Caruso in her days! A definite must have for opera maniacs! If you have other recordings of her, I'm a taker... Very difficult to find recordings of her. I saw her in a documentary on opera, in her later years when she had retired, and can say I understand when she said: «The opera is not over until you hear the big fat old lady singing!» BTW, a few dishes were named after her. Thanks a million! Much appreciated!

While she made tons of money, she died a pauper like so many lady singers of her time. Much can be found on Internet by googlng «Luisa Tetrazzini»
