| “ | The melodies of the Psalms we hear today are not recent compositions. Neither are they a new treatment of earlier works. They were created nearly three thousand years ago, most of them by David himself. They were sung by Levite musicians in the Temple at Jerusalem until its destruction (A.D. 70). Shortly after the fall of the Temple, the songs were forgotten as the Levites were scattered by Roman persecution. We must realise that these melodies were written down in the Bible itself, from the outset, for in the Bible we still find these ancient signs, scrupulously copied, but for which no-one, until now, could discover a meaning. It was left for me to restore to the Bible its music, by deciphering the enigmatic symbols in which that music lay hidden. This notation appears in every verse of the Hebrew Bible, and consists of two complementary systems: one for the prose, and another for the Psalms (and Proverbs), but both presenting significant correlations. Only 19 signs are used, scattered amongst the «vowel-signs», and their exact meaning depends on their position either above or below the words. The signs obey a subtle system of abbreviations. And the signs are consistent in their value from beginning to end of the Bible, which is why the deciphering Key works for the whole of the Scriptures (my discovery has been accepted by persons of great standing in the world of music and of religion). - Suzanne Haïk-Vantoura | ” |
