| “ | "While working out the piece I was constantly aware that music already existed, that it had always existed, even the music that I was writing. It is merely necessary to trust what you hear around you and in you, and to realize it in a score. 'Fixed form' and 'open' are the same thing". Bruno Maderna wrote that of his "Third Oboe Concerto", the last work he wrote before dying on November 13, 1973. from the booklet attached | ” |
Bruno Maderna: Oboe Concertos - Fabian Menzel oboe - (3 tracks) 55:52
01 Concerto #1 per oboe e orchestra da camera [1962] 19:35
02 Concerto #2 per oboe e orchestra [1967] 19:31
03 Concerto #3 per oboe e orchestra [1973] 16:46
I like to recall the compositional problems that Maderna had to face in his works with these very clever and very actual words by himself: "I write the score and give it to a musician. I must therefore bear in mind that the responsibility for translating my music into sound is in the hands of another individual with his own ideas, ways of thinking and skills."
This his why I like to share another version of the Maderna's Oboe Concertos.
These recordings have been in the vaults of the Saarbrucken Radio Symphony Orchestra for over a decade, since 1994 and 1996 -- No.s 1 and 3 are live recordings -- and the engineering and mastering is impeccable.
