One of my favourite Reich CDs and the first I ever listened to. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you very much. I was watching for this for long. But the cue files doesn't match with de three pieces. Can you fix this?
Posted By: peter happy Date: 22 Nov 2008 22:05:04
please tell me, where the cue don't match with the ape file.
the ape file is tagged with the cue in the folder ( you can use this in foobar) and it plays all very good. I have tested the cue directly and it brings the same result. I can't find the problem.

Have a look by yourself : there's nothing for the first track and both of the cue file are the same. So the first track is cut in two part and the two other are in one... Maybe you can help... Otherwise Thanks.

I downloaded all the files a second time and it didn't work either. But I finally found the problem (maybe it will help some other people): a period is missing on (not in...) both names of the cue sheets : "[ecm.1168].Steve Reich - Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase ape" instead of "[ecm.1168].Steve Reich - Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase.ape" So,thanks a lot. Again : thanks for this music.

I can say the same as in my first comment:
I see no probs with the cue's

PERFORMER "Steve Reich"
TITLE "Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase"
FILE "[ecm.1168].Steve Reich - Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase.ape" WAVE

TRACK 03 AUDIO

PERFORMER "Unknown Artist"
INDEX 00 15:28:05
INDEX 01 30:40:19

in this cue, and that is the cue in the rar-file, there is all for the first track you need 0:00:00
and it is not cutted in 2 tracks.
the filename in the cue is the same as the ape-file has. look on details like this ( I mask all spaces with _ )
[ecm.1168].Steve_Reich__-_Octet,_Music_For_A_Large_Ensemble,_Violin_Phase.ape

you will find after Reich 2 spaces, this is the same in the filename. in your fienames there is 1 space after Reich

I can't find your problem.

and I say it again: the ape-file is tagged with the cue, for all have foobar in use. when I move the cue to foobar (thats the same I think you do in winamp or other prog you use), foobar will find the ape-file correctly and it play the music in best titlecutted style.

Thank you very much!

Sometimes it's helpfull for foo to do the following (shown for this case):

change <FILE "[ecm.1168].Steve Reich - Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase.ape" WAVE> line to <FILE "[ecm.1168].Steve Reich - Octet, Music For A Large Ensemble, Violin Phase.ape" APE> line in the cue file. By clicking on corrected cue it will be loaded for playing with all track info (if rest data is right, of course).

I've been following the discussion with interest. Because I didn't have Octet, I downloaded it too. No problems playing the file, but when I tried to burn it, EAC said "positions in line 16 must be in ascending order".

Have a look at it: line 16, INDEX 00 15:28:08 starts BEFORE the preceding track ends (at 01 15:29:23). That's not correct. All you have to do in order to burn it is remove INDEX 00:15:28:05 and delete the resulting blank line.
All will be fine.

take this to burn on CD

REM GENRE Avant-Garde
REM DATE 1981

PERFORMER "Steve Reich"

TRACK 03 AUDIO

take this for the ape

REM GENRE Avant-Garde

Muchas gracias !!!

Thank you for the music.
removing "INDEX 00" (that actually means the end of previous track) solves the problem.
but:
it looks riped with funkcion "delete silent blocks" active :-(
CD with corrected cue not recognised by freedb

cue of the same CD (flac) from torrent indicates pauses >9" between tracks, and this cd is recognised by freedb

The audio is abou the same, but some noices like 20'23" are in ape version and not in flac.
So if you want to have exact copy of CD you must look in torent sites IMHO
