Thank you so much for this awesome post.
Deutsche Grammophon is one of my favorite record labels and Karl Böhm is one of the greatest conductors.

About tagging the tracks:
Beethoven can't be the "artist" because he died, he can't play his own music and he was the composer of this compositions.
So the artist is: Karl Böhm; Wiener Philharmoniker (as you can see at the CDDB or the freeDB database when you want to rip your own CD with your PC player or with xrecode II software.)

Example for the track title:
Symphonie Nr. 3 Es-Dur Op. 55 'Eroica': 1. Allegro con brio

The album title is:
Beethoven: Symphonie Nr. 3 'Eroica' - Ouvertüren

Thank you again your hard work and please continue the uploads of your classical albums! :)

Hi Quicksilver,

i ripped this CD with EAC (as shown in the log). Tagging was automated by freeDB entry coming with EAC. I must confess that i do normally not care too much about artist/composer, because mostly i rip other stuff and classical music is just a small part of my music. I will watch out for these manners with my coming up rips.

Thanks for making the point!

//edit: I guess the original entry writer to freeDB wanted have Beethoven in the first part of the title. Because of that you have to choose him as artist - but you are wright of course.

Hi luckburz,

Thank you too!
The truth is, every database are different. Every database use another method to show the artists and the track titles.
I often use "xrecode II" software when I rip my own CDs.
At "xrecode II" I can choose from four databases and I can decide which one I want to use.
There are available "freeDB", "freeDB2", "freeDB(JP)", "MusicBrainz" databases and "CD text" (if available).
It often happens, that only one database shows the correct CD data and the others shows false data.

And of course you are also truth when you wrote "I guess the original entry writer to freeDB wanted have Beethoven in the first part of the title"

Cheers to you! :)
