Dmitri Shostakovich - Symphonies Nos. 1 and 15 (Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Caetani)
Classical | EAC: FLAC+Cue+Log | 1 Cd, Cover+Booklet | 325 Mb
Label: ARTS - Date: 2006

Dmitri Shostakovich was only 19 and still a student at the Petersburg Conservatory when his first major orchestral work laid the foundation for a career that would make him the most important symphonist of the 20th century. Following the first performance the symphony was performed around the world. Renowned conductors such as Bruno Walter and Leopold Stokowski brought the work to an international public.

In contrast, his 15th symphony marks the end of Dmitri Shostakovich’s symphonic accomplishments. The high and low points of his entire career and life are reflected in this work. The absence of a programmatic theme binds this late work with Shostakovich’s first symphony.

Thank you, but is that your RIP? The recording sounds very warbling and metallic, like a 64 kbps mp3. For instance, the applause in the end of Symphony No. 15.

It is my RIP. Maybe mics they used didn't pick up the sound of the applause very well. To be sure I checked the flac-file with audiochecker 2.0 and this was the result:

Number 15 is my favorite.
I'm curious about the recorded sound of this label,
which ranks usually very high in quality and atmosphere.
Have to thank you for this one in particular, tapaz9,
links are quite as fresh as the post itself.

Congrats for an extraordinary share !!!
