Gustav Mahler: Symphony No.8 (dir. Sir George Solti)

Mahler finished writing his Eighth Symphony in 1907, the first completely choral symphony in music history. It is divided to two unequal parts, the first a setting of the Latin words of the 9th century Whitsuntide vesper hymn Veni Creator Spiritus attributed to Rabanus Maurus, archbishop of Mainz, and the second is a setting of the closing scene of Part II of Goethe's Faust.
