You might say, “is that necessary, a piano version of some of Bartok's most famous orchestral works?”
Answer: o yes. This one is. This album is a sensation. And out of print, and very rare.

Gyorgy Sandor used to be what Zoltan Kocsis is now for Bartok, or...more authentic, perhaps, because he was Bela's student and personal friend. You must have heard of him!

In the early 60's of last century I played in an amateur orchestra and our director decided to study the Concerto for Orchestra. It took a lot of time before he was satisfied and we had a good opportunity to learn all the ins and outs of this marvellous music. In those days this music was still very modern and he gave a public explication of the music with a piano. Since that time I love the Concerto and I have played my grammophon record and later my CD again and again.
So I'm curious to the piano version.
Many thanks and regards from The Netherlands.

@altviooltoon

An amateur orchestra playing Bartok...you had an ambitious director! But I guess that's what makes a large part of the fun
