Mirroir de Peine: I wonder what you are going to say about this little cycle of immensely beautiful songs for soprano and orchestra.
Hendrik Andriessen is less well-known than his son Louis, of course; but I can imagine Andriessen the Younger has spent a lifetime trying to create anything that would not pale in comparison with these magnificent musical poems.
Roberta Alexander in a glowing performance here. Her highly expressive, yet controlled voice gives these songs their due.
