Having posted the Empress of Modern Harpsichord the other day (Elisabeth Chojnacka), I thought it was time to present to you the High Priestess of the Marimba, Keiko Abe.
This cd bears the name “Keiko Abe reveals the essence of the marimba”… perhaps it is a rather unimaginative title for an almost godlike album. This one goes straight to the top of my collection of percussive music. No compromises for naïve audiences here, Abe takes everything out of the instrument and gives body and soul to show the world the summit of musical art.
The woman is a downright sensation. I’m in awe.
