| “ | From the notes:"The simplicity of phrasing, the natural, unforced elegance and the wonderful fluency of her playing have become emblematic of an art which effortlessly conjured up poetry. And it was Schubert, together with Mozart, who was the obsession of her musical life" Notes by Jean-Charles Hoffelé | ” |

| “ | Cont. from the notes by Hoffelé: "Rarer, and in a way even more astonishing, are the four-handed works recorded with Homero de Magalhaes, her pupil at the time. Lili Kraus avoided the grand vistas of the Fantasy in F minor, preferring the wonderful interplay of art-music and folk elements in the Divertissement à la hongroise. The record company never divulged who played primo and who secondo, but Boskovsky, who was page-turner at the recording sessions, told this writer that they alternated at will. each of them having worked on both parts. Therein, no doubt, lies the secret of their total unanimity. It would be impossible to disentangle the identities of these twenty fingers breathing together, clarifying textures and bringing out these spirited Hungarian-style overtones, whose character Lili Kraus was able to convey by means of a piquant shortening of the first beat in the bar..." | ” |
A little jewel that I thought I had posted here previously. The works by Schubert on these two CD's are particularly beautiful. The Mozart violin sonatas with Boskovsky still have live links here. So give them a try! They are very beautiful.
Enjoy!
