I don’t know how important Marguerite Long was for French piano playing; but judging from the staggering price tag attached to this hard to find record, I’d say, very important. And then there is Ward Marston’s legendary reputation as a masterful transferrer of old vinyl, of course. If I can believe my internet friends, nobody like him to breathe new life into old recordings that were thought beyond repair.
Long was a friend of Faure, whose music she performs here.
