Yuji Takahashi: Finger Light
XLD OSX | flac (no cue/log) | Scans | Rapidshare | 169 MB
Classical | TZ 7010 | Vocal: Jap/Rus | Recorded: 1994-1995 | Released: 1995

From liner notes:
Mimi no Ho - The 17 pipes of shô (Japanese mouth organ) are not ordered in pitch. The performer senses the positions of his index finger while playing. It is possible to build movement patterns based upon the proprioception and the kinesthetic feeling. Viola has no frets. It is possible to slide not only a single pitch but also the whole melody line on the fingerboard. This piece is composed with the above observations of the playing methods.

01 Sugagaki Kuzushi 9:41 Kazuko Takada, hosozao (shamisen) & vo; Yumiko Tanaka, hutozao (bass shamisen)
02 Mimi No Ho 10:30 Ko Ishikawa, sho; Kishiko Suzumi, va; Vladimir Tonkha, poetry

Each song has some confusing terms and I guess these will mean like follows (sorry I am not so familiar with literature)...
01:
Sugagaki - Shamisen played by prostitutes awaiting their customers on streets
Kuzushi - Break (In this case, Broken Shamisen?)
02:
Sails (Ho) of Ears(Mimi)
03:
Michiyuki - A unit of a scene in Kabuki/Joruri (Japanese dramas in Edo Era).
Kage - Shadow. Since 'hime' means a noble girl, the entire title would be 'one-act play on the anonymous girl'.
04:
Yubi (Finger) Tomyo (Light). An explanation has been given on the liner notes.

Thanks dangdang: I've heard of him the Bach's Goldberg Variations on piano & synthesizer. Aki Takahashi has some parental link with him?

@ooliver
Yuji (1938) is Aki (1944)'s older brother.
I believe both are mainly releasing quite a lot of 18-19th century programmes as well as contemporary works these year.

There's also a disc of Yuji playing Cage's Sonatas & Interludes, a CD reissue of a 1966 LP release, out on Fylkingen Records.

Thanks for this; not familiar with Yuji's own music.

Great post Thank you so much Dangdang. A little suggestion (when you explaining titles):
Kuzushi also means out of balance or make somebody or something out of balance... So, maybe title is Unbalanced Shamisen? (Sound more zen to me, but, just guessing...)
