Lisa Brokop - Beautiful Tragedy (2008)

Former hometown girl from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Lisa Brokop is an indie artist now and, after a two-year hiatus, just handed in the best album of her career.

She co-wrote all but one of the songs and they show a stunning depth and breadth from the uptempo first single "Break It" to the moodier "Clouds, Clouds, Clouds" and the dazzling "Rapunzel." Co-produced with her husband, Nashville singer/writer Paul Jefferson, this is a stripped-down sound meant to showcase the songwriting and Colin Linden's guitar playing. But the true star is Brokop's rich and wonderfully matured voice. Outstanding.
