Tintinnabulation from Syntonic Research. (Special low frequency version.)

From the booklet:
β€œThe Magic of Psycho-Acoustical Sound
Imagine five huge bells tuned to reverberate harmonically with each other. The unusually soft strikes are computer modeled, in widely separated stereo, based on a sophisticated sampling technique. Musical preferences have no bearing on how you will react to this sound. Tintinnabulation was first created in 1969 for use at an exhibit entitled Contemplative Environments at New York's Museum of Contemporary Crafts. SR sought to further psycho-technological research by inducing a synesthetic meditational response. Synesthesia, simply put, means that what you experience with one sense is perceived by another of your senses. A synesthetic response might be seeing subtle color changes when hearing certain types of sound...”

β€œOne of the most amazing aspects of environments is the the ability to control distracting noise with recorded sound. Basically, SR releases with a "white noise" content are most effective in this context.... There are many variations on these themes in the environments Series, each with specific characteristics which research has shown to be important to various personality types.”

From Amazon.com:
This is probably one of the oddest recordings I've ever heard, but it's also one of the most restful. It reminds me of some of the deep, resonant brass bells I heard rung during ceremonies in a Buddest temple in China in 1986. The sounds are at varying frequencies, with refraines lasting for several seconds at a time. I could easily see this as a meditation piece, something with which to focus one's mind, just as the bells in China were probably used during the ceremonies I attended. There is nothing that remotely resembles a "tune" here or anything that is strictly speaking an "environmental" sound either. For those who enjoy some of the atmosphere recordings, this will probably please you. For those who expect their music to be hummable, this definitely isn't it.
