The baklava is one of the key archetypal geometric shapes and ornaments both in prehistorical artefacts from the Balkan Peninsula and in the visual milieu of the costumes and carps of our ancestors. The baklava is a shape that connects us all.
If you look a little bit closer, you will realise that we are “surrounded” by baklavas. Our first major challenge is to draw this perfect geometric shape in the auditive space.
The baklava is both a powerful and an extremely sweet dessert. Anyone who has ever tasted baklava could not have remained indifferent. Our second major challenge is to penetrate the secrets and recipes of the musical delicacies of the Macedonian folk music tradition.
Baklava is a musical group with a minimalist musical concept: the sound is made by only one female vocal and two string and percussion intruments – the tambura and the bendir. The third major challenge is the musicianship: simplicity and unpretentiousness.
Apart from the remakes of Macedonian folk compositions, Baklava’s worldview is open to other folk traditions as well. But the key challenge is to create original music in a vivid dialogue with the aesthetic achievements of traditional Macedonian music.
Baklava was formed in 2005 as a result of the bond between the individual musical experiences of its members in their personal projects as well as the collaboration with other musicians and bands.
After the launching of their first album, entitled Baklava (2007), Vladimir Martinovski replaced Aleksandar Stamatov (of the first lineup).

It is a silly attitude at least to place after your nickname or your name itself the name of Macedonia, 'cause trying to steal history and heritage (since you really don't have any history at all) you think that if you place everywhere the name of Macedonia, you'll become automatically Hellenes and Macedonians!
Ha-ha-ha all you pure barbarian people of Vardaska or FYROM.
Don't you know that your roots are bulgarians (slavs) mostly and you are in this region since 600 A.C.? If not, then try to learn who, what and why !!
And the truth shall liberate you as individuals and as a polygenesis and polyglotism "nation" you are... But you don't! So, Come and Get it! or MOLON LAVE!!!

and for discussions regarding Macedonia visit psychiatric hospital.
you are persistent in using the term MACEDONIA, clearly now, without knowing and/or understanding that you are causing problem.
As far for discussions regarding Macedonia U.N. is taking care NOT any senseless "psychiatric hospital" advice.
PS: baklava is well known as a Turkish cake sweetened in walnuts as eromeo comment, also defines a geometric shape (diamond shape)
" Yes, i'm using and i will use word Macedonia because on my map of Europe my southern neighbour's country is called Macedonia, whether you like it or not. And i'm here because of music not politics. So if you want to play music please do, if you want to make politics discussion please open topic @ some forum. I don't care if a good music come from the country called Macedonia or Greece or country called "I don't fu***n care" as long as it is good music. PERIOD."

Actually as you recognise by yourself, it is a matter of a map and not a matter of DNA. I can show you a map in 1940 that "FYROM" was "VARDASKA" before !!!
Of course, concerning your DNA, no man in this world know from where it comes!!! It is mixed up that's why you cannot recognize yourselves who you are and what you are!...
Therefore, use better the name of Vardaska or Skopje (which is also Greek word that means 'Guardian' (Skopia) taken of the Byzantine Empire greek town in the front against Slavs and other barbarians who were invating Byzantium), and finally give it up with (pseudo)-Macedonians in FYROM as you are trying to advertise yourself. You are very complicated persons up there in Vardaska; don't you know this? You must be ashamed, but gypsies never be ashamed as you are most of yourselves all you poor barbarian people... Just get lost from my sight and your baklavas!
Can you prove it that you are a real Macedonian or a pseudo one?
How can you prove it Mr KTRAJANOSKI ?
Why your language and your names are slavic? Why don't you have anything to prove that you are ancient people in the region? You must be ashamed mr ...noski !!
Your misery is what it makes you gipsies to beg for a history and glorified heritage from your neighbours, us the Hellenes or Greeks!
Get lost mr ----NOSKI and don't bother me with your misery ....
aren't you ashamed that you cast your disgusting vomit on this forum? we are trying to enjoy music and understanding for the cultures of the world. You have none of that, nor the hearing for good music nor the understanding for culture. Spare us from your fascist views because you are casting an evil picture for all Greeks. Are all Greeks like you....intolerant, quick on words and ultranationalist?
I am from Macedonia and my grandmother was shoved on train by Greek soldiers and sent far away from her home, as far as Azarbaijan. She came back though, and never forgot her destiny to be what she must be. She was Macedonia and so am I and so are few more million people in the world. We are not too many but we are here and it will take another attempt of ethnic cleansing to get rid of us.

The title of this album, Kalemar, means a person who knows his or her way with plants and nature. Kalemars are people who would conjoin two different types of the same plant to produce a cross-breed, that in turn gave more fruit and more durable body. The root of that word is Kal and has ancient tradition. It means MUD, and mud played an incredible role in the laves of people in the past. The word "Kal" is the basis of many many words in the Macedonian language, such as
Kalakurnica-a hell of a mess
Kalesh-brown skinned
Kalina-a fruit
Kale-a fort...because they were built of mud
Kalci or Kalchuni-type of traditional shoes...because you use them to step on the ground, which was made of mud
poster, thank you for the album
It is so depressing to read all this archaic ethnic-nationalist-racist stuff on a site where one expects people to compare notes on world music, which one would have thought would be committed to fusion.
(incidentally just for the sake of some amusement-- I believe my paternal great grandmother comes from somewhere around skope where she met her husband who was a Hungarian count of Polish descent who had found refuge in the Ottoman empire in his flight from the Russians after 1848; the maternal side is even more complicated, including Circassians, Arabs, Germans, Cretans-- oh, yes I am Turkish.
thanks for sharing
Wish you all the best, including our neighbors Egyptians.
